Setup
Nuvolos for the workshop, local install for after
For the workshop on 16 April 2026, you have two options. Both give you the same experience — pick whichever feels more comfortable.
If you’re unsure, use Nuvolos. It’s pre-configured — just log in and go. You can always set up a local install later.
Option 1: Nuvolos (Recommended)
We provide a Nuvolos cloud workspace with Claude Code pre-installed. Nothing to install on your laptop — just a browser.
Enroll here: app.nuvolos.cloud/enroll/class/uApg4AjoxTM
You can log in with your Kiel Institute SSO credentials.
Option 2: Local Installation
If you prefer to have Claude Code on your own machine — useful beyond the workshop — you can install it locally.
Local installation is only possible on your own machine — not on Kiel Institute laptops, as these require IT authentication for software installation.
macOS installation guide → — Homebrew, Node.js, Claude Code (~10 min)
Windows installation guide → — WSL2, Ubuntu, Claude Code (~30 min if WSL isn’t set up)
Claude Subscription
Regardless of whether you use Nuvolos or a local install, you need your own Anthropic account with an active Claude subscription.
- Sign up at claude.ai
- Claude Pro ($20/month) is all you need
- The Kiel Institute will reimburse the subscription cost
Please sign up and activate your subscription before 16 April. We’ll have limited time for troubleshooting on the day.
What If I Do Nothing?
We’ll help you get onto Nuvolos during the setup slot at the start of the workshop. But it’s much smoother if you’ve logged in at least once beforehand.
Questions?
Before the workshop — email julian.hinz@ifw-kiel.de or paula.jacobs@ifw-kiel.de. During the workshop — raise your hand. Julian and Paula will help.
